Hi, I'm Caroline.

I am a pint-sized, curly haired girl trying to figure out my life's path, one adventure at a time. This year's adventure is culinary school in Portland, OR where I live with my cat, Willow.

Here you can follow my adventures in cooking, exploring my city, and crafting. When I'm not at school, trying a new restaurant or attempting a new recipe at home I can be found wandering the city with friends, taking photographs, or continuing my search of the perfect coffee shop or pair of shoes.
Hello!

Welcome to my blog! I have been talking about making one for a while and I have decided to finally take the plunge! It just so happens that I also just started culinary school in Portland, OR and this is an easy way to tell everyone about how it is going. Here is where I will be sharing my experiences with cooking, crafting, and culinary school.

First, let me explain the name of the blog. A bâtonnet is one of the first knife cuts that you learn and one that you use every day, the dimensions are .25"x.25"x2". At school you start by cutting potatoes, lots of potatoes, only potatoes (with the occasional onion). In fact, the entire first week is based on cooking potatoes! (And as you can probably guess, cutting A LOT bâtonnets.)
